Are you next victim of Spy Groom war?

Its just not Corona, which we are trying to defeat by staying inside our house, but there are thousands of threats out to harm us in Cyber World. One among the latest threat is “Spy Groom”, offensive, of Pakistan, intelligence agency, ISI. In its new war fare the ISI is targeting young Indian girls, especially living near major Indian army installations. 

Finding that their old tactics, of “Honey Trap,” luring army officers through young beautiful Pakistani girls, is not working any more, they have this new war game of “Spy Groom”.  In Honey trap, army officers were lured by young Pakistani girls and then blackmailed to pass sensitive information.

Now, its other way round, Indian girls are lured by Pakistanis in the name of marriage, travel and job abroad and are subsequently blackmailed to pass sensitive security information. In a recent incident, two girls from Mhow Cantonment, a very important military establishment of India, have been detained by local police due to suspected Pakistan link. Sources claimed that one of the sisters has told investigators that she wanted to marry the Pakistani man whom she contacted through social media. 

These women are suspected to have been honey-trapped by ISI agents and were in constant touch with several contacts across the border. The elder sister had come in touch with a Pakistani national in the past through Facebook and later they chatted on WhatsApp after exchanging contact numbers. The father of these women was a low-rung staffer who retired from service and has died.

The elder sister reportedly worked as computer operator with a power company while the younger one worked as a school teacher. The women were reportedly in touch with some Army officers locally. The women told the investigators that they used to talk to man in Pakistan who has promised to marry the elder sister. The younger sister was reportedly spotted roaming around on a bike close to the Army establishment in the past. The women reportedly deleted data from their phones and cyber experts are retrieving the same. 

The girls in general are also target of Pakistani men, who lure them for sex online and record the same. Once they are trapped the blackmailing starts with the threat of making the video public on social media. In most of these cases the Criminal away in Pakistan, even the police find its very tough to help these victims of online sexual trap blackmailing by Pakistani men.

 

The Spy Groom, tactics in a way is nothing new for ISI and has been in practice in Indian towns, near Pakistan border. As a journalist, I had an opportunity to bust such racket in Barmer, Rajasthan and in riot-hit Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. But those days, it was not so easy as agents have to come to India, obtain local address and live as an Indian, so the danger of being caught and exposed was very high. 

But now with internet and social media, the game is not only easy and lucrative but also  very safe and secure from across the border. The agents are getting both money and sensitive information on the click of button. You need to be extra careful not to fall in this honey or spy groom trap of Pakistan ISI.
